唐朝玄宗年间,发生了历史上有名的安史之乱。当时的名将张巡守睢阳城,浴血奋战。但寡不敌众,只好派手下大将南霁云向其它城守将讨救兵。南霁云带了三十名骑兵,奉命突围到附近的临淮关搬救兵。敌军数万人发现南霁云等的踪迹,就四面拦截,不放他过去。南霁云左右驰射,人马所到之处,好象闪电一样,倏尔明灭,使得敌军神摇目眩,不知所措。南霁云突围成功,到达淮阳时只损失两名部下,唐朝的将军们都妒忌张巡的威名,坐视其败,不愿伸出援手。临淮的守将贺兰进明,尤其如此。南霁云苦口请兵,贺兰进明只是不答应。南霁云悲愤之至,在宴会中拨出佩剑,砍断一只手指,鲜血淋漓地斥责贺兰进明自私,座中人不禁为之泪下。

睢阳城破,张巡、南霁云等被俘不屈,以身殉国。

潮阳及澄海都建有双忠公祠,以纪念张巡和许远。而南霁云斫断手指头的这个典故,也随之流传。但其语义已有所演变。

宋朝的时候,有个叫陈州的地方,这里连着三年都没有下过雨了,地里的庄稼都枯死了,老百姓没有粮食吃,到处流浪乞讨.朝廷知道后,便派刘衙内的儿子刘得中和女婿杨金吾到陈州发放粮食,救济灾民.临走时.刘衙内悄悄地对他们俩个说:你们两个去陈州发放粮食救灾,这可是个发财的好机会呀!你们到那里这后,就把米价抬高,由五两一石改成十两一石,然后再往米里面和一些泥土和糠秕,这样我们就可以借这个机会大赚一笔啦!两人听了,会意地点点头,然后便离去了.到了陈州后,刘得中和杨金吾两人便按父亲说的那样,把米价改成了十两一石,往米里面掺了很多土和糠秕,还在称上面做了手脚,短斤少两.老百姓看到买来的米不仅价格高不够斤数,而且里面还有很多泥土和糠秕,心里非常气愤,于是便联合起来,到官府那里告状,谁知这件事情传到了包拯的耳朵里,包拯是当时有名的铁面无私,公正执法的官员,他知道后,亲自到陈州了解情况,调查清楚之后,便马上把刘得中、杨金吾抓了起来,按照法律判处了死刑.

俗语:凡事学大丈意指做事心中无数,盲目跟从。大丈本指大姨父,潮汕习俗大人跟小孩称呼对方以示尊敬,所以襟弟称襟兄也称大丈。凡事学大丈这个俗语,源出民间流传的一则傻女婿故事。传说以前有一位傻女婿要到岳母家祝寿,妻子怕他出洋相,便告诉他:大姐夫是个知书识理的人,到了我妈家,你就跟他学着做就行了。翌日,到了丈母娘(岳母)家,傻女婿便细心注意大女婿的一举一动,认真模仿。在筵席上,大女婿举杯向丈母娘祝寿,他也举杯祝寿;大女婿为丈母娘夹菜,他也夹菜;规规矩矩,很有风度。丈母娘心想小女婿虽没读书,也甚懂理,心里很高兴。席间大女婿掰分一粒蚶吃,并用手帕将蚶壳包下,然后又吃豆粉汤。小女婿一不留心没看清楚,以为大丈吃蚶是连壳吞下,心想这可能是礼貌吃法。于是,也拿了一粒蚶放进嘴里,拼命往喉咙里咽。这谈何容易,他被哽得好苦。大女婿见襟弟这般傻相,忍不住大笑一声,谁料刚吞下的豆粉丝从鼻孔中喷了出来。傻女婿见状,惊惧万分,忙把蚶壳吐出,连连说:大丈啊大丈,你那蛤蟆吞涎已经把我哽得半死。这一着牛囝穿鼻我确实学不来!弄得大丈哭笑不得,众人却被逗得哈哈大笑起来。

孟子三岁丧父,由其母亲抚养成人。小时候住山东邹县城北二十五里的马鞍山下,村名叫范村,村不远有一片墓地,出殡的人群常从孟子家门口经过,於是孟子就模仿送殡的人,孟母看见了,认为「此非所以居吾子也」,就把家搬到城国北部的庙户营。可是这裏街上相当繁华,东部住一个杀猪屠户,孟子就学屠户的样子,整天嬉戏。孟母感到这裏也不宜培养孩子,便又移居於「学宫之院」,即县城南门外子思书院旁。从此,孟子被琅琅的读书声所吸引,孟母甚喜,就把孟子送进了这所学宫读书,他勤奋读书,终成大儒。

嫦娥的故事

相传,远古时候天上有十日同时出现,晒得庄稼枯死,民不聊生,一个名叫后羿的英雄,力大无穷,他同情受苦的百姓,登上昆仑山顶,运足神力,拉开神弓,一气射下九个多太阳,并严令最后一个太阳按时起落,为民造福。 后羿因此受到百姓的尊敬和爱戴,后羿娶了个美丽善良的妻子,名叫嫦娥。后羿除传艺狩猎外,终日和妻子在一起,人们都羡慕这对郎才女貌的恩爱夫妻。 不少志士慕名前来投师学艺,心术不正的蓬蒙也混了进来。一天,后羿到昆仑山访友求道,巧遇由此经过的王母娘娘,便向王母求得一包不死药。据说,服下此药,能即刻升天成仙。然而,后羿舍不得撇下妻子,只好暂时把不死药交给嫦娥珍藏。嫦娥将药藏进梳妆台的百宝匣里,不料被小人蓬蒙看见了,他想偷吃不死药自己成仙。三天后,后羿率众徒外出狩猎,心怀鬼胎的蓬蒙假装生病,留了下来。待后羿率众人走后不久,蓬蒙手持宝剑闯入内宅后院,威逼嫦娥交出不死药。嫦娥知道自己不是蓬蒙的对手,危急之时她当机立断,转身打开百宝匣,拿出不死药一口吞了下去。嫦娥吞下药,身子立时飘离地面、冲出窗口,向天上飞去。由于嫦娥牵挂着丈夫,便飞落到离人间最近的月亮上成了仙。傍晚,后羿回到家,侍女们哭诉了白天发生的事。后羿既惊又怒,抽剑去杀恶徒,蓬蒙早逃走了,后羿气得捶胸顿足,悲痛欲绝,仰望着夜空呼唤爱妻的名字,这时他惊奇地发现,今天的月亮格外皎洁明亮,而且有个晃动的身影酷似嫦娥。他拼命朝月亮追去,可是他追三步,月亮退三步,他退三步,月亮进三步,无论怎样也追不到跟前。后羿无可奈何,又思念妻子,只好派人到嫦娥喜爱的后花园里,摆上香案,放上她平时最爱吃的蜜食鲜果,遥祭在月宫里眷恋着自己的嫦娥。百姓们闻知嫦娥奔月成仙的消息后,纷纷在月下摆设香案,向善良的嫦娥祈求吉祥平安。

乘风叩橄榄 乘风叩橄榄,是流传于潮汕各地的俗语,也是潮汕历史上曾经发生过的实事。作为俗语,它嘲弄那些乘机捞一把的不良现象或趁火打劫的不法行为。作为史实,它曾发生于盛产橄榄的地方。乘风的风,指的是台风。叩橄榄则是偷盗的行为。橄榄,是潮汕的土特产。潮汕橄榄品种繁多,驰名海内外的名优橄榄,有潮澄饶交界一带的乌种橄榄、潮阳金玉芦塘的三棱橄榄和揭西凤湖橄榄等。由于橄榄用途广,价值高,历来果农喜欢种植它,鼠贼仔也蓄意偷窃它。澄海隆都南溪村有民谣:南溪阿妈多,无好仔弟担阿妈去卖。橄榄与阿妈音近似,阿妈即橄榄。而担阿妈去卖的仔弟,自然不是好仔弟。无好仔弟指的处那些愉叩橄榄的鼠贼仔。 当地人说,收获橄榄从来都是摘取,不是叩。霜降,橄榄摘落瓮。这农谚指明两点:一说收获橄榄季节是霜降;二说收获橄榄的方法是摘。摘取橄榄还要有相当的技术。一般是用1条竹藤制成的软性长梯,每梯格约1米,最长的梯有18格,即18米。操作人把梯倚于树冠边,顺梯爬上去后,用脚夹住梯格,手抓树枝,采摘橄榄,放进身后勾篮。摘取时最怕有风,更怕大风,因风吹树枝摇,操作人有危险,同时风吹树摇橄榄掉,掉下来的橄榄易损伤,不能久藏。只有鼠贼仔才乘风叩橄榄。因为台风到来,果园无人摘橄榄,鼠贼仔就乘此机会,用竹竿或石头偷叩橄榄。这样,风刮加偷叩,橄榄落满地,鼠贼仔偷走一部分,还剩下很多,风后园主巡查也弄不清是被风吹落,还是被人偷叩。鼠贼仔自以为这是其得意之作。但时日久长,终被发觉。这乘风叩橄榄就成了广为流传的俗语。如今,人们对于那些层层加码的乱收费等不正之风,也比如为乘风叩橄榄。
